Labia Majora, literally translating into large lips, are the two fleshy folds of tissue that wrap around and protect a woman’s genital organs. The Labia Minora (smaller lips) lie enclosed within the outer lips, beginning at the clitoris and ending under the opening to the vagina. The labia contain sweat and sebaceous glands, which produce lubricating secretions.
Labiaplasty is a procedure that helps correct the size, symmetry, shape and composition of both the labias, should there be any abnormalities due to age, childbirth or sex.
The Labia Minora Plasty is a skin reduction surgery that reduces the size of the labia minora, makes it more symmetrical, removes pigmentation and brings about a more youthful appearance.
The Labia Majora Plasty on the other hand, involves filling the labia majora with autologous fat or fillers, resulting in a fuller and smoother looking pair of outer lips.
Both the procedures happen during the day. You will be able to return home the same day. Minora Plasty may take about 2 to 3 hours and require a local anesthesia, while the Majora Plasty using fillers takes about 10 - 15 minutes and does not require any kind of anesthesia. You may be able to leave home with 1 to 2 hours of surgery and the recovery time may take upto 6 weeks.
